Shared Topic: Mountable Mounts

From his post on Blog Azeroth, Dragonray wrote:
One of the things I have noticed since my return is the huge amount of mounts available now through rep gains. I am still working on a couple, but it has made me wonder which mounts you guys are loving or hating :)

So what are your top 5 mounts - or just the ones you go to all the time because you like the way they ride? What are the ones you really dislike and can never bring yourself to use - does it rub against your collecting nature (if you have one) to buy all the mounts even though you know you will never use them?

I knew I was not alone in wanting to get all the mounts I could possibly get in game!  I spent way too many hours in Grim Batol the past few weeks grinding out reputation with Ramkahen so I could buy two camels that I may never ride, just so one day I can collect enough to get a kite that I may also never ride, just so I can say that I have them.  Come on, don't try and deny that you aren't exactly the same. What if next year they said that there would be no (ugly mount of your choice) in the game.  Even if you hated it, you'd want it so you could say that you have something that is no longer in the game, right?  I thought so.  I don't have to use all of them.  Let's just pretend that I have a peon in Nagrand tending to my neglected mounts, letting orphans ride my nether rays and kodo.  Here are the mounts that I would keep with me.

Cenarion War Hippogryph.
I purposely worked out the reputation needed for this mount. After rolling an alliance character just for fun and riding a hippogryph as a taxi, I knew I needed one of my own!

Headless Horseman's Mount.
My rogue Maura (now Marea) won the reins to this mount on Hallow's End a couple of years ago.  I love that it flies and doesn't get stuck in elevators and doorways. I also love that it's undead but doesn't look like it is falling apart.

Swift Zhevra.
I love this because it is the closest thing to a unicorn in game.  I also love it because hubby did recruit a friend for me just so I could have it!

Twilight Drake.
The color of this mount is so vivid.  A friend of mine that works with me ran the Obsidium Sanctum raid on 25 man regular with all three drakes up just so I could have him.  My friend is pretty awesome, and so is this mount!

White War Talbuk.
I went back to Nagrand to earn reputation with the Mag'har sometime toward the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.  I love all my talbuk mounts, but this is my favorite.  So gorgeous!

I have a sixth favorite that I take out very rarely. As much as I love having a ton of mounts to ride, I feel like a huge show-off pulling this one out, and so I rarely do.  I guess that is the same as having a mount that rubs me the wrong way?  I love him, I do, and who wouldn't?  Cuddly bears and cute murlocs are the best combo!

Big Blizzard Bear.
What mounts do I really dislike?  I really don't like big mounts and awkward, ungainly mounts.  My kodo, mammoth, and turtles (and heffalumpwhatevertheyares when I am playing alliance) get put away as fast as my add-on pulls them out. The nether rays and the wyvern (except the Grand Wyvern) are not favorites, either, but I'm not as quick to put them away.  I'm not really fond of my mechanical mounts, either, but I wouldn't turn down a mechano-hog if someone handed over the keys!

Something Dragonray didn't ask was if there were any mounts that I was aspiring to or yearned for.  Yeah, sorry, that sounds way too sappy!  But there are a few mounts I really would like to add to my collection. Here are the top 5:

  • Sandstone Drake - I made sure the new Carlatta had her alchemy and archaeology leveled so that she could start searching for the recipe for this one.  Sadly, the only digging she's been doing lately is on her farm, picking herbs and swatting vermin so that the guild can have elixirs.
  • Ashes of Al'ar - Who doesn't want this one?  I like the Dark Phoenix that the guild vendor has, but the colors!
  • Raven Lord - I love the Arrakoa, and am looking forward to more lore about them in the Warlords of Draenor expansion. This mount is so feathery, I wish I could hug it in real life!
  • Quel'dori Steed - Another unicorn!  Guess I'm going to have to dust off my lance and do some more Argent tournament dailies.
  • Enchanted Fey Dragon - I have wanted this since it was first found in the game files. At least this one is more easily attainable!
So, how about you?  What's your absolute favorite mount?  Which mount makes your skin crawl?  Which mount is highest on your wish list?  Join in the Shared Topic fun, or comment below!
